Construction Youth Trust was grateful to be the Construction Cup’s charity partner for the third year in a row. Teams from 37 companies took part in the hugely popular 5-a-side tournament at Powerleague Shoreditch, with all funds raised going directly to us! As always, it was a great day with a fantastic atmosphere and some great battles on the pitch.
On 26th November, Paul Turpin, Schools Sector Lead at IBI Group, visited our head office at the Building Centre to present us with a giant cheque, which revealed that the event raised a huge £5329.79 for the Trust.
We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to organisers IBI Group, a worldwide design and technology firm, for making us the beneficiary of this fantastic event once more. This funding will allow us to work with even more young people who wish to develop the skills necessary to start a career in the construction and built environment sectors.
Becki Murphy, IBI Group Event Organiser, said:
“The IBI Group Construction Cup was a big success and a fantastic day! Each year, global design and technology firm, IBI Group aims to unite construction companies under ‘One Industry. One Goal’ and I feel this was definitely achieved at the tournament, with 37 teams coming together to play.
The event really shows what kind of impact the industry can have by working together. Not only through fundraising but also by providing awareness of the importance that Social Value has on our communities, as highlighted in our 2018 campaign #LetsBuildSocialValue.”
Tom Glover, Partnerships Manager from Construction Youth Trust, said:
"It was another great day for us at the Construction Cup. We were able to get volunteers signed up from almost all of the companies there which we are so grateful for.
Thanks again to IBI Group for supporting us with this event – hopefully the team can do a bit better on the pitch next year!"
